Rogue Games Is Leaving Substack for Ghost
The subject line says it all. Like the ninja that inspires this company, I am throwing a smoke bomb and I am gone.
Here is the why: Substack.
After last week’s events, the place has turned into something I do not want to support. Before you interject, this is not about AI. It is about the forces behind the scenes. I know money is important. I know companies need to be funded. But when increasing valuation drives decisions ahead of users, that is where I get off the train.
The tone and tenor of the place has changed. I am not comfortable. I do not feel safe. I will leave it at that.
The data usage I cannot support. The implications are better outlined by Carey Lening and Luis Campos, both of whom have written clearly about what Pangram’s partnership actually means in practice. The short version: Pangram uses posts to train a model to detect AI writing, which causes authors to rewrite, which teaches the model again. The ouroboros of that process does not sit right with me.
So, where am I going? Ghost.
I am not giving a sales pitch. I am not being paid to write this. I am just telling you who I chose and why: they are a non-profit building open-source tools. I will let you learn more on your own.
If you want to follow, and I hope you will, come find me at Rogue Notes. That is the new home. I will also continue to let you know here when new posts go up, so you will not miss anything during the transition.
If you want to keep up with me personally, Richard, visit Insert Title Here.
The last box is packed. The moving truck has left. I am out the door.
Be good to each other. Life is far too short for the drama.

I've been contemplating the same and had heard of Ghost already. I'll check it out as well.
