I am a reader, and I read a lot. Currently, I am reading two books, one for fun and the other for research. In addition to that, I also read academic papers, which I find necessary for the topics I write on. Some of these papers are sent to me by friends who want my input, and others I read thanks to my subscription to Academia.edu.1
The following list is what I have read over the past few weeks. There is a theme here that might be relevant to a project.
'A Literature of Cosmic Fear': An Introduction to H.P. Lovecraft
Ascending the Mountains of Madness: the Language and Psychology of H.P. Lovecraft
Azathoth Negative: H. P. Lovecraft and the Unrepresentable Vistas of Ontolog
Cults of Lovecraft: The Impact of H.P. Lovecraft's Fiction on Contemporary Occult Practices
Fiction in the Desert of the Real: Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos (2007)
The alien entities of Howard Phillips Lovecraft Marcel Poorthuis
To Marvel at the Nothing: An Esthetic Interpretation of H.P. Lovecraft
As I mentioned above, there is a theme here. The more I build my references and the more I read, the more I wonder if it is overkill.
This is not a plug; no one is paying me for it. I find this site useful for what I do. I have found many great papers I have used for Colonial Gothic.
You have the Lovecraftian side pretty well covered. If you have not, you might want to check out Junji Ito and H.R. Giger. For Ito, I started with Uzumaki. He also has a series on Netflix called Junji Ito Maniac that is worth checking out.
